Science Day

Butterflies 1 and 2 were very lucky to have a whole day of science with the help from year 8 Bitterne park students. They even brought giant African land snails with them. Look who was brave enough to hold them!

The children had the opportunity to collect bugs from the school grounds. They then had to identify and sketch them. Of course all bugs were returned.  We also used microscopes lent from Bitterne Park to view the organisms in our pond water.

The highlight had to be the rocket making. The children designed their group’s rocket and then Bitterne Park students helped with the launch. Through experimenting with different amounts of water and size bottles,  Butterflies concluded it would go a lot higher if they put less water in and used a smaller bottle! The final rocket launch went very high!!!
