Year Three Visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace

Year three have spent the day at Fishbourne Roman Palace near Chichester. It has been a great day and the children should be very proud of the way they behaved. Thank you to the helpers who came with us.

We started the day looking around the Museum and Mosaic room. There are many artefacts and mosaics to be seen. This is the biggest and most complete mosaic showing cupid riding on a dolphin.

The children also tried some weaving.

There is a beautiful garden at Fishbourne and we were lucky enough to have gone on a sunny day.
Standing in the Triclinium. An outside eating area.
A very helpful gardener we came across

Some silly Roman Soldier photos!!!!

After lunch we went to the workshop. The children dressed as slaves for the lesson and learned about how their life would have been.
We then tried to be experimental archaeologists.

Writing with ink or on wax tablets.

Trying to complete a maths puzzle.
 Role play in the kitchen.

Making mosaics, looking for clues or bridge making.

At the end of the day we met the son and daugher of the people who lived at the palace!!!!!

Thank you to every one who offered to help for the day. I wish I could have taken everyone.

Welly Walk

Moorlands first ever Sponsered Welly Walk!

All the children and teachers went outside this afternoon to walk the field in their wellies.
Reception did one lap of the field, year one did two laps, year two did three laps and so on.

Mr Roberts (with the help of some year sixes) meaured the distance around the field and worked out how far the children walked.

An amazing 120 miles walked by all the pupils this afternoon.

Well done to everyone who took part.

Winter Wonderland Windows

Thank you to everyone who entered a Winter Wonderland Window for the Friends of Moorlands Competition. There were lots to look through and picking the winners was very difficult.

Congratulations to the children below.
