Stubbington Day Two

Another great day at Stubbington.
Eggstreme Challenge was our first activity.
It began with different team challenges.

We then decided on the best materials to protect an egg.

After the eggs (in their cases) had been flung across the hard court we unpacked to see if they had worked.

The winning team!

After a spot of lunch we searched in the conservation area for evidence of mammals.

We then prepared small mammal hotels and hid them. We will hopefully have a few visitors over night that we can look at tomorrow.

After dinner we took advantage of the late sun and sketched by Lake Vulpes.

Summer Sing 2011

Ladybirds went to Townhill Infant School last week, where they took part in The Big Summer Sing. Lots of schools learnt 5 songs about creepy crawlies and we all got together to perform them as one big group! We had great fun.

Stubbington - Day One

We have had a great first day at Stubbington Study Centre.
After unpacking and having lunch (cumberland sausage with salad!) we took a 'short' walk down the beach.

3 miles later, we had learned about shells and some aspects of the beach. We arrived back at the Centre very tired and hot but the children managed to find the energy to play on the adventure play ground and run around!

After a fish and chip supper (with peas!) we spent an hour in the classroom writing our diary.

Although we are absolutely shattered we are looking forward to a full day tomorrow.

Steel Pans

We have been fortunate over the last few weeks to have the mini steel pans from Southampton Music Services. Mrs Pritchard and year 5 have worked really hard with them and are very proud of their progress. Please have a look at the video below.

Andy Warhol Exhibition and Workshop

On Wednesday (8th June) Year Five visited the Andy Warhol Exhibition at the Southampton Art Gallery. We were given a tour of the exhibition which included a visit to 'The Silver Factory' where the children were able to dress up. (You will have to ask the children to explain why!!!).

We were then given a printing workshop.
We used a template to draw a face onto berol press print. We then used block ink to print the image onto paper.

Upper School Disco

A great evening had by all. The upper school disco had everyone on their feet (including Mr Roberts!). A big thank you to Mr Butler for his skills at the decks and of course to Friends of Moorlands for organising the event.
